Let X be a compact Kähler manifold and D a simple normal crossing divisor on $X$ such that K_X+D is merely big. I will present a recent joint work with Duc-Viet Vu in which we establish the weak convergence of conical Kähler–Einstein metrics of negative curvature to a singular Kähler-Einstein metric in the class c_1(K_X+D). This partially answers a question posed by Biquard and Guenancia.
